Aviator

By Martin Scorsese’s
Cinematography
The film is very good quality and the actors portray their characters well. This scene is about a careless man trying to break the speed record in a silver plane that his team and himself had designed and created. This scene is a true story and its genre is biopic. Cinematography is the making of lighting and camera choices when recording photographic images for the cinema. I have chosen to use cinematography which means I will talk about camera angles and camera choices. This film is a good example of cinematography because the scene contains many different angles and lighting.

In this scene of Aviator, Howard is walking across a field to his plane. His team is telling him what to do, how much fuel the plane has and how much time he will have to make the record. The camera angle in this part of the film is from behind When Howard is getting into the plane the camera angle is from below and has a close up of him. Then when Howard is settled into his plane the camera angle goes above the plane and shows how big the plane is and his team working on the plane to get it ready to fly. Then he is putting on his seat belt and it is a close up of his face. There is the a zoom in on the gadgets in the plane and Howard's face as he analyzes them. When Howard grabs the leaver its show his hand very clear and his face in the background, blurred. Once the plane is ready to go the shot becomes long with the plane the main object. I think the editor was trying to make the plane stand out here because the background is dirt and brown mountains. The camera zooms in on Howard's foot on the pedal and his face of concentration. After the planes starts to movie after stopping to wait for a flag the camera is focused on the wheels of the plane to show it lift of the ground. The shot is then long and shows the whole team watching as the plane zooms past and does some spins in the air. Once Howard is in the air it is a short shot and shows the plane flying from the front and Howard's face of enjoyment. The camera keeps zooming in on the fuel reading because it is running low and Howard has to be very fast if he doesn't want to crash. it keeps on referring back to the stop watch to show the time it takes him to do a lap. In this film there is a combination of shots short, medium and long. This film is a very good example of cinematography.

This film is a good example of cinematography because it uses many different angles to get the effect they want for the audience. For example when they wanted the audience to see the time that the record was at they would do and extremely short shot on the stop watch his team was holding. This scene portrayed cinematography to a great extent.

Star Wars Trailers Editing Analysis

The trailer for Star Wars was very old, the editing was bad, the effects were very bad quality, there was no sound apart from a boring voice narrating and the add was to long and it lost my interest. It didn't make me want to rush out to the video store rent it and watch it. The trailer for Star Wars episode 3 was better than the trailer for Star Wars. The graphics were so much clearer in Star Wars episode 3 and it actually looked real. They used some suspenseful music in the background and they used the characters voice as a narrator. They explained the story line better and it had a fast pace which made me a bit more excited that the slow pace on Star Wars. I would go see Star Wars 3 at the movies but I would not rush out to see it and I wouldn't mind if I didn't see it.

Horror Film Method

Take one beautiful woman and make her a klutz. Get one psycho stalker and make him follow her home and steal her. Get one tall, handsome man and make him in love with the klutz and make him worry about her absence from work. Make the klutz be located in a big mansion, isolated from the world with no cellphone network. Make the psycho stalker torture her into telling him about her family. The psycho stalker goes back to the klutz house in search for any information about her family. Mr Handsome stopped by her house after to work to check on her and saw the unfamiliar man in her house, make him follow the stalker back to the mansion. Make Mr Handsome pull up out the front of the mansion when the stalker has gone inside. Mr Handsome realizes something is not right when he pulls out his phone and there is no network. Make Mr Handsome grab a lump of wood laying near his car and walk into the house prepared for a fight. Make him wonder up the open staircase looking for any sign of life. He comes to 3 doors... Make him chose the fair left door and let him walk in with the piece of wood high above his head, so if he needed to he could swing the wood at someone. Make the klutz be sitting on a chair with her hands tied behind her back and her mouth sticky taped shut. She is crying and shaking her head from left to right at Mr Handsome. Make him run over to her and take off the sticky tape over her mouth. "Its a trap! Its a trap! Watch out!" She screams. Make him raise his weapon and turn wearily around. Make the stalker and Mr Handsome fight in an intense scene. Mr Handsome wins, unties klutz and they run to his car. Drive all the way back to Mr Handsome' house, call the police and inform them of the address of the stalker. Make Mr Handsome and Klutz live happily together under each others protection. Of course they fall in love.
