Film Title: Moulin Rouge

Concept: Brief description of the story.

A man has lost the love of his life, he is writing about it and his time in Paris.

Theme: A description of the movies overarching theme.

Love, romance, loss, complication, impact, death, musical and no happy ending.

What do you see? (Describe the lighting, colours, effects, characters, setting and camera angles).

The lighting is very dark, the characters are poor, sad or laughing and on the streets. The camera angle is flying through the city and the sound is a man singing and talking. You also see that Paris is dead and when it flashbacks to a year earlier Paris is alive and colourful.

What do you hear? (Describe the colours, movement, sounds you hear).

You hear a man singing, many people in the streets talking and laughing and a man talking as he writes the beginning of his story.

What do you feel?

Scared, sad, confused and wanting to know more.

It makes me feel depressed and think that Paris is a scary and dark place, even though I know its not.

What do you think of that?

I don’t like it…

What does it make you wonder?

What’s happening?

What’s the story about?
How did his love die and why?

Why is the movie so dark and mysterious?
