"The Touch of Fear"- Story for next term

“The touch of Fear”
It was a beautiful summer night and you could feel the heat in the air. I walked over to my best friends Hayley's house. I knocked on the door and when no one answered I knew something was wrong because she was expecting me. So I turned the door handle and it was open, thats weird I thought to myself she knows she is supposed to keep the door locked when her parents are out. The lights were off and the house was quiet. I was confused and a little scared. I walked into the living room to find the TV on but on mute. I walked into the kitchen and then made my way to the study. What was that? My heart started to race and my mind filled with thoughts I tried to forget. I ran over to the desk holding myself up in horror. My pocket started to vibrate and I knew what would follow soon after but the ringing phone still filled me with fear. I ripped my phone depsertaley out of my pocket with my shaky hands I looked at caller ID and it read unknown. I sent it to voice bank and walked over to the motionless body lying on the cold tiles. How could this have happened? Tears were streaming down my face. Every creak and crack sent me into a deeper fear. I was shaking. I knelt down next to her and rolled her over. She was cold and pale. I was looking at my best friend Hayley. I fell flat to the floor next to her in despair holding Hayley’s stiff cold hand…She was dead. As this reality hit me I screamed in horror before stopping myself. I heard footsteps behind me. I would be dead soon, just like Hayley and I started to sob loudly through fear and grief. “You are very brave’, came a voice from behind me, ‘You probably should have answered that call though, I was trying to warn you that I was coming.” I tucked Hayley’s lose hair behind her ear and reached into my left pocket grabbing my pepper spray. I should at least try to fight back, for Hayley’s sake. “This is my entire fault”, I thought to myself as I carefully put Hayley’s hands by her sides. I kissed her forehead and pulled myself up from the floor desperately trying to collect every last piece of adrenaline and confidence I had left, to face him one last time. I never should have dragged Hayley into this mess. I slowly turned towards him and screamed hysterically when I caught a glimpse of what he was holding in his long twisted fingers as he walked towards me with a smirk on his face… I thought of everything he had done to the ones I love and suddenly felt this wave of rage take over my body. I threw myself towards him screaming in anger. I have had enough. He fell down to the ground beside Hayley and he rolled over to look at her. He smiled and touched her gorgeous blonde hair. “She is very pretty”, he said teasingly. I yelled, “Don’t touch her!” I threw myself onto him trying to punch the smirk off his face. He pushed me off and stood up clenching his fists together. “You shouldn’t have done that!” He said slowly. I screamed as he raised his fist and made his way towards me. This was it. I couldn’t move. He started repeatedly punching me and kicking my stomach, this happened for at least 5 minutes. I couldn’t breath. He ran back over to the door and grabbed a piece of wood. He made his way over to me slowly and stood on my hand. I could feel all the bones breaking and could hear them to. Luckily he tripped… I was relived but confused. I looked around for anything or anyone. I didn’t have time to feel any pain. I jumped off the ground and ran. Ran for my life, down the stairs, into the corridor and out of the front door. I was screaming hysterically and I couldn’t see because of the tears that covered my eyes, but I kept running. I wiped my eyes with my sleeve. Finally I could see again. I ran to the closest house and screamed in agony as I bashed the door with my broken fist. To my delight a man opened the door rubbing his eyes. It must have been early. When he looked at me I could tell he was shocked. I was covered in blood, holding my stomach and crying. I pointed to the big house that I had come from and yelled, “Help! A man killed my friend and did this to me!” He ran back into his house grabbed a baseball bat and told his wife to call the police. I collapsed on their porch, not long after he started to make his way over to the house. Through the darkness I could only hear a faint whisper of a voice, I didn’t know who it was but I listened closely. They said, “Everything is going to be alright”. At that moment I knew I was safe. As the darkness consumed me I left the world for a better place and to be with Hayley.
